While organising my trip in Kota Kinabalu- Borneo, I wanted to make sure I was going to have the best option available on the market price and service wise without having to sacrifice anything really!
It didn’t take long before The Klagan Hotels popped out in many of my researches, discovering there were many of those around KK making it perfect for me to organise the whole stay in the city accordingly to my needs.
My first choice has been the Klagan Regency, which is located at only 25-minute drive from the Kota Kinabalu International Airport, many tourist attractions and next to one of the biggest Hyper mall of the city, the 1Borneo.
The Hotel itself is really big and has a beautiful impotent wide glassed door entrance, which gives it a very fresh look and makes the natural light embrace the lobby and the reception desk area, where you’ll find a very greeting and smiley staff waiting for you.
The position is very strategic because is really central to everything you might need, as shopping in the mall nearby, that allow me to say is really gigantic and it took several days to figure out the exit once entered that immense mall.
Being in the proximity of a mall gives you also much choice about food options, in fact although there’s a delicious restaurant in-house, you can decide in both cases to have some traditional Asian food or western one as well.
You’ll be surprised to see how many café’s and really a lot of cute places where to have your evening tea or where to just grab a hot coffee on the go, to start your explorations in the best way possible!
As you might have noticed something really important to me is food and I was very pleased to know that at Klagan’s Regency food is also an important matter, as you will directly notice from their rich morning buffet that takes place in their spacious restaurant where you can also experience delightful lunches and dinners.
The morning buffet really is very rich and I’m sure you’ll find whatever comes up to your mind from Asian to western food and there’s a lot of staff around constantly making sure to replace everything and make it look always full, clean and taken care of!
During my stay I had the opportunity to taste different dishes from the most traditional ones to the western options and I’m glad to say that in any case you’ll definitely enjoy their cuisine!
You’ll see my first time experience with the Hot Pot cooking method, prepared with a simmering pot of soup stock at the centre of dining the table, containing a variety of East Asian foodstuffs and ingredients and you can simply choose the ones that please you the most;
This is also the perfect combination for a mixed table of vegetarians, vegans or big meat and fish eaters.. I’m sure everybody will be happy with this option.
The staff was very attentive and kind guiding me thought the whole process and making sure to give me all the information…needless to say that the experience has been very much appreciated and I’m looking forward to repeat it soon!
The Executive Suite, which is the spacious 65sqm room where I was staying includes 2 different ambiences: the master bedroom, where I could see the luxurious bathroom from a big through looking glass and a cosy living room I was using as studio, where to peacefully work and enjoy the beautiful view from the 11th floor.
The room is obviously equipped with all the amenities: wireless internet access, complimentary coffee and tea making facilities, in-room safe, flat screen TV, working desk, IDD telephon making your stay definitely comfortable and the reception desk is also available 24/7 to assist you in the best way possible.
What I like about this place is that it’s the best option for both travellers on a holyday or business ones (being in close proximity to many corporate and government offices).
The facility has not only a big capacity of rooms but offers also an outdoor swimming and wading pool for the kids is also available, to make sure every guest can fully enjoy the stay and have all needed options to make the whole family happy.
Should you be a workout freak as I am, you can just head to the gymnasium and take care of your body, soul and at the same time reduce stress with some exercise that is always beneficial.
Those options are absolutely appreciated, especially if you’re there because of the many events and functions the Klagans host!
I wasn’t really surprised to know that the Klagan houses one of the largest ballroom in Kota Kinabalu, the Klagan Regency Grand Ballroom, for international and local conventions, trade shows, public exhibitions and entertainment events.
There are anyway many meeting and function rooms of all sizes, which are not only perfect for corporate events but also private ones…in fact I could not only picture my birthday celebrated in this place but my wedding as well!
The service is remarkable: as in my experience I didn’t really know how what to visit and how to organise my whole travel in Kota Kinabalu, I didn’t only receive a big help and support from the entire staff and reception desk, but they addressed me to one of their most valuable elements which took care of me and personally made sure I had all information needed about the travel agencies and tours…Couldn’t have made it without her, Stella Is definitely one of the reasons the whole Borneo experience has been so special and definitively worth the visit!
Stella herself made sure I had all the transfers organised and booked for all my tours and I didn’t have others to do that relax and enjoy my trip!
Although the Klagan Regency itself has one of the most strategical positions form the airport, not even far from the city centre (and can organise anyway transportation and shuttles to wherever you may need), is also the perfect place for those ones who are looking for the best place to start their trekking from.
As I mentioned at the beginning, the Klagan group has several other hotels around the city;
THE KLAGAN HOTEL:
Which is located in the heart of Kota Kinabalu and as in the previous case presents various options for shopping, restaurants and entertainment right at the Hotel’s doorstep.
At walking distance, you can find the famous waterfront esplanade where to enjoy the nice atmosphere of music lounges, bars and fresh seafood restaurants and directly walk to the popular Filipino market for some shopping!
THE KLAGAN RIVERSON:
The Riverson is the best choice for families or for those who are looking for a place where to spend a fairly long amount of time, having the services of a hotel but all the feeling of a proper fully furnished apartment.
All hotel rooms come with a kitchenette, household medium sized fridge, microwave oven, toaster and a full set of cutleries and dinner ware.
Between the facilities available to the guests are a swimming pool, gymnasium, library and function room.
